IT'S ALL IN THE GILDED DETAILS - TUTORIAL

The holidays are here, so it's time to gild everything!  This tutorial is pretty simple and straight forward and can be applied to anything from animal figurines to pine cones to dollar store baubles. It's an inexpensive way to make luxurious decorative accents that will pimp out your holiday decor.

All you need are some dollar store figurines, a can of gold spray paint and a sealing spray varnish. Krylon Metallics are excellent. They adhere and dry beautifully. They have a strong odor, so be sure to spray outside or in a super ventilated area. If you want to forgo the outdoor spraying, Liquitex makes amazing acrylic spray paints that are low odor and can be used indoors.

1. I went ahead and sprayed the figurines with a white spray paint first. This is an optional step, but we find that it makes the gold pop by doing this.  If you're going for an all white holiday look, you can give it one more coat of white and still get a great look.

2. Okay, the white coat has dried. Lay your figurines on some craft paper and spray your first coat of gold Krylon. Be sure to spray a good 10-12" away to avoid drips.  Let dry according to manufacturer's directions.  Once, it's dry to the touch, give it a quick spray of varnish to seal.  Let cure overnight.

How sick are these! You can use them as you please. Check out the variety of ways we used them.

Holiday Conga Line?

You can take this idea and run with it.  Go ahead and use it on larger items for more impact.

Are you handy with a drill or dremel?  Check out these place card holders:

We hope this inspired you to roll up your sleeves and get gilding. Stay tuned for more amazing holiday tutorials from Creative Sisters Events!

Thanksgiving - The Red Headed Step Child of Holidays?

Ah! It's that time of the year folks! Time to gather around with family and friends and give thanks for all the amazing things in your life by inducing yourself into a food coma. Or to give thanks for making it through another year alive! You better hurry up and do it though, because for some odd reason, Thanksgiving seems to get pushed to the side by all the other holidays. Big bullies! Poor Thanksgiving doesn't get the attention it deserves.  Let us give you a few examples.....

Take a look at most retailers and you will be surrounded with spooky Halloween décor and extravagant Christmas displays. And then there's the measly Thanksgiving end cap which usually consists of a few gourds, pumpkins and the cliché cornucopia. Where is the love? Well CSE decided we're not going to take part in holiday negligence!  We scoured for the most creative and chic décor that will have us all embracing Thanksgiving with a new found respect.

We love these feather place mats over at Mobile Bay Mag! You can't go wrong with feathers. Don't know where to find them? We got this: Take a drive over to Michael's or you local craft store, pick up some feathers and start gluing. Glue them to felt, wood....whatever you have around. Be resourceful like the pilgrims.  You can get the kids involved and before you know it you'll have custom place mats. BOOM!

Peasant feathers are even better.

Pick up some of these adorable mini pumpkins and some gold spray paint, while you're at it. Metallic paints and glitter work every time! On everything!

What a great idea! So simple.

Wishbone napkin holders! WHAAAT! Pottery barn always comes through.

Now this is Thanksgiving!

We here at Creative Sisters Events wish you and your family the most amazing and fulfilling Thanksgiving. From our family to yours. Work that turkey hat!

Hallow's Eve

Halloween is by far one of our favorite holidays.  CSE has had the pleasure of designing several amazing Halloween parties in the past and cannot wait for many more in the future. Why? Well, why not?  Now, as event designers, there are times when we're somewhat limited depending on a client's budget constraints.
It is at those times, that we are at our most creative because we are challenged to be as resourceful as we can be. You know....."Necessity is the mother of invention"...and all that.  What if we had an unlimited budget to design and coordinate the most amazing Halloween party? Come with us and take a stroll as we invite you to daydream with us and be a guest at the most amazing Halloween inspiration party.........Fade to Black.

The Sweetest Carnival Party

Creative Sisters Events recently had the pleasure of designing and planning a Carnival Themed 1st birthday party for the most adorable Lil Max.  We custom designed every detail for this event especially for Mr. Max.  The party evoked a sense of a retro style carnival that touched on all the senses.  From authentic carnival games, to a magic show and all the cotton candy our little guests could handle. It was tons of fun and a great success!  Thank you to Mr. Chase Bakers for once again knocking it out of the park with her incredible pastry design.  We had a blast!
